The “Governmental Day” Workshop, supported by CORA project, took place on 2 December 9:30 to 11:00 in the frame of the FTTH 2020 conference. The workshop attracted more than 130 participants from all over Europe and the World. The workshop is an interactive platform for broadband stakeholders in the EU with a strong focus on challenges of the rural digital divide faced by local, regional and national authorities. At the workshop, we informed about the EU and Member States broadband and digitisation policies, exchanged on strategies, approaches and solutions that support digitisation process, as well as consolidated the broadband stakeholder community.

Never before we have experienced such a consensus on all levels of the society and governance that reliable digital connectivity is one of the key factors of our current and future resilience. No matter urban or rural, no matter reach or poor, and no matter young or old. High quality connectivity is what Europe is aiming at. A great progress in connectivity in the previous years in all MS was made. However, a lot still has to be done.

The workshop was developed together with the FTTH Council Policy and Regulatory Committee and is characterised by a strong participatory approach in order to stimulate innovation and engagement of key stakeholders from the EU Member States and to facilitate a transfer of knowledge and ideas with the aim to create a European Gigabit Society.
